Pattern Notes
The Rák shawl is worked flat and features a range of different stitch patterns: garter, lace, slipped stitch & cable patterns, while at the same time playing with color. It also includes a novel way to incorporate vertical stripes seamlessly into your knitting. The piece is constructed in a way that allows the easy adjustment of its overall length.
In Section #2, yarn strands can be carried to the next working row, when changing between colors. For all other sections yarn strands should be cut to a short tail, 5 cm / 2 inches in length.
There are several ways to work double yarn overs, two of them are:
– work 2 yarn overs the usual way on the RS, and knit 1, purl 1 on the WS
– work 2 reverse yarn overs on the RS, and purl 1, purl 1 through the back loop on the WS.
Information on Yarn, Needles, Gauge & Size can be found on the KAL Master page.
