Tomorrow marks 3 months since my arrival to Switzerland. I have been enjoying my stay in my second home country and have been doing a lot of knitting. Since the summer there have been a lot of things in preparation and soon I will be revealing little by little. New designs and new plans!
In the meantime, I will talk about the very few selfish projects I make these days and some very precious finds.
At some point after I arrived, I found myself in a need for a new phone (after almost 7 years!), which meant of course one thing: that I would get to make a new case to match it’s dimensions!
I usually crochet such cases, as they basically are a one-sided cover. I searched through my Ravelry queue and decided on a crochet square block, Rebirth by Magdalene Lee. This is a lovely design, which I had to modify slightly in order to achieve a rectangular shape instead of a square.
The yarn I used is Lang Yarns Rosanna, a thread weight, 100% cotton sturdy yarn in awesome colors. I found it, among other yarns in a local thrift shop (Brockenhaus) at unbelievably bargain price. Most of the balls I found, were already slightly or more used, but otherwise in excellent condition (shopping someone’s de-stash probably!). Excellent way to acquire some yarn, as I was able to carry only a very small portion with me. The big boxes full of yarn are still waiting to be transported. xD
The case works very well, and has been a hit with everyone that has seen it!
Alongside yarn I have also found some treasures.
Among the books I have located, there is a great surPrise: a 1993 print copy of Kaffe Fassets’ Classics in absolute pristine condition, AND SIGNED!!! I thought I was daydreaming when I found it. What luck!
I also found a wooden massif darning sphere and a pair of cute egg holders with sheep drawn on them. (If you follow my Instagram you can learn about these treasure finds in real time!)
